Amelia Brigg's textile-based works and paintings offer an introspective view of psychological and physical boundaries. Drawing inspiration from anatomy and botanical forms, her pieces evoke a sense of organic growth constrained by subtle, clear limits. Amelia's use of soft colors and fluid shapes invites the viewer to explore the delicate interplay between freedom and restraint. Her wall hangings in particular suggest both shelter and containment, mirroring the inner tension between desire for growth and the comfort of security. -550 Gallery, New York NY, 2024

My truest life is unrecognizable, extremely interior, and there is not a single word that defines it. -Clarice Lispector, The Hour of the Star

My work focuses on the intersection between the psychological and animal selves and how this interplay shapes our internal world. Drawing inspiration from body language, psychology, and natural systems, I create three-dimensional wall hangings and paintings that draw from botanical and anatomical forms with almost free-flowing movement and subtle color shifts. Each piece is contained within a clear boundary, symbolizing obstacles to be overcome while offering a sense of security and solace, reflecting a longing for growth.
