ABOUT
Amelia Briggs is a Brooklyn-based visual artist working in fiber, painting, and installation. For over a decade, her practice has explored interiority, memory, and transformation through plump, whimsical forms that blur the line between the familiar and the uncanny. Drawing on fiber’s history as a medium of labor and self-expression, she extends its tactile, accumulative qualities into sculptural objects that fuse painting, craft, and sculpture.
In 2019, Briggs began incorporating glass mirrors into her sculptures, creating exaggerated, organic frames from fiber, wood, and latex. These serve as perceptual lenses, reflecting how our emotional and psychological selves shape perspective. Each mirror is visually textural, slightly pliable, and features an anthropomorphic silhouette that asserts its presence in any space. Since 2019, Briggs has collaborated with Kelly Wearstler to create distinctive objects for interiors worldwide. Her mirrors have appeared in The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Vogue, Elle Decor, Domino, Surface, Forbes, The Observer, and more.

ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST
HOW IT WORKS
Each mirror is handmade to order in Brooklyn, NY, using the same core materials: wood, rubber, acrylic, glass, upcycled materials, latex, fiber, and pigment. Each is a functional work of art; no two pieces are the same.
What is customizable? The shape, scale, color, and finish.
1 Each custom piece begins with a conversation to understand your aesthetic goals, the piece's location, and your vision for scale, color, and finish.
2 Next, I provide sketches, mock-ups, a quote, and a completion timeline, along with color/finish options. Physical color samples are available upon request. You can request revisions or share feedback on the sketches and mockups before moving forward. I incorporate your input to ensure the design aligns with your vision.
3 Once approved, I send the initial invoice. I require a 50% deposit to begin construction; the remainder is due upon shipment or pickup.
4 Then, construction begins; each mirror is handmade in my Brooklyn studio and takes around 3 weeks to complete, depending on scale.
5 Throughout the process, I maintain clear communication and send progress images as desired.
6 Once the piece is complete, I send the final invoice for the remaining 50% balance, plus shipping if required.
7 I offer flexible delivery and shipping options, including installation support for projects in and outside NYC. If you are based outside the city, I am happy to coordinate logistics to ensure your mirror arrives safely and can recommend professional installation as needed.
