Eve Leibe Gallery is pleased to invite you to SOFT SPOT, a group exhibition opening on 24 May in Florence at Numeroventi.

SOFT SPOT features works by Amelia Briggs, Mona Broschar, and Manon Steyaert. Co-curated by Cecilia Monteleone and Selena Cerami, the show takes place at Numeroventi, 20 Via de Pandolfini, Florence, inside the historic Palazzo Galli Tassi, dating back to the 16th century.

An artist working with the concept of Softness is confronting art and its rules, and life and its rules. Soft is associated with white linen, puffy clouds, foamy shampoos, squishy cakes, fluffy sheets, quiet snow, pale light, warm milk. Softness holds expectations in our minds; it has its own safe space somewhere in our heads.

But what if Softness becomes confrontational? What if Softness, intrinsically subdued, calming, soothing, and comforting, becomes colorful, disquieting, rousing, and draws the viewer’s eyes until it makes him uncomfortable?
